Why have some countries like Ireland and South Korea managed to become successful and prosperous despite suffering enormously under colonial occupation, while other colonized nations like India, Pakistan, etc are still third world?
Korea was free for most of its history unlike India for example, which was colonized for over a 1000 years. plus Korea and Japan received massive investments being vassal states of the US while India was stuck with socialist USSR
India chose socialism after independence and stagnated for decades because of it.
Prob a lack of solidarity, nonsense with caste and north India south India prejudice Hindu vs Muslim maybe etc
Post WWII investments. You should brush up on your history.
Huh? India is the 3rd largest economy (ppp). What the hell is an Ireland?
Apple has an HQ there
Sure, probably run by Indians.
Small population countries are easy to regulate than the large population.
If everyone in India poop, whole Ireland will submerge. India is becoming 3rd largest economy, where are you living?
Lol when did Pakistan get upgraded to 3rd world?!
This guy is clueless or a troll
To take those two cases in turn: Ireland is a Western country that speaks the international language of business, and is indeed right next to its place of origin. This means it had a very easy time integrating with other Western economies and political systems, with all the benefits that carries. South Korea was heavily invested in and aided by the US to prove a point in the heyday of the Cold War. It also received a significant transfer of knowledge from Japan after WW2. This is obviously not exhaustive but it goes some way in answering the question.
Idk if I'd consider Ireland successful and prosperous. The Irish still face issues related to the English.
🤣
Ireland is one of the richest places in the world per capita. And homogenous. Nice try.
