I have a BA in finance and MA in Economics from a low ranking public University. I have a few years of work experience as an analyst. . I'm thinking about going to a 3 month data science boot camp or a 6 month data science vocational training. Would you consider my resume for a data position? Looking to work for mid size+large company after... As any type of data scientist. I read on Reddit that many managers want more formal training and consider bootcamps a joke, is this true? Please let me know your thoughts.
People look on Kaggle, definitely, and bootcamps will have assignments based on Kaggle questions. Insights Data Science bootcamp is good, we recruited a lot from there. Not saying large percentage got offers, but it's always a worth while place to recruit from. Not sure if you would qualify though, I think it's PhDs only. If you consider bootcamps I would look into their hiring stats, and go on LinkedIn to see where their graduates landed.
Im not a recruiter, but I tell you that probably wouldn't get you hired at my company. Doing well on kaggle competitions would probably be more useful than the boot camp .
