Question to Gun owners and supporters of Gun ownership

if it were legal, do you support ownership of fully automated assault rifles such as AK 47, M16 or equivalent for personal ownership (also own any number of them) ? do you feel more safe and empowered with such advanced weapons? are you in favor of removing all background checks for gun ownership except for mental health check?

No. Everyone needs Jesus. 😝

I’m not a huge supporter of guns and until recently, for personal reasons I won’t get into, didn’t own a gun. I do however support ownership of fully automatic weapons. Background checks I think are tricky. I don’t support background checks at a federal level, its against our constitution and I don’t believe that we should repeal or even change the 2nd amendment. I can support it at a state level though and I can even support at a federal level limiting the transfer of guns over state lines. As far as state levels of background checks, I believe that if there is a background check if any sort (mental health, previous felony’s, etc) that all citizens of the state should be able to vote. If a state has the right to restrict gun ownership to a limited set of people, those people should also be able to vote them out of office. I say all that like it’s not tricky but in reality the 2nd amendment should protect citizens from their states restricting their rights.

Why do you assume all citizens of a state CANNOT vote? (Regarding your statement that they should be able to vote)

If you are a convicted felon your voting rights are taken off I heard

Right, this has been a big issue in Florida and is the same in many states including California (though to a lesser extent). https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2019/03/19/felon-vote-sparks-battle-for-florida-as-gop-moves-to-define-rights-921875

You can already own a machine gun, it needs to be pre-86, and you need a tax stamp, and you need to live in a state where it’s allowed. And yes I support ownership because it’s already legal, but yes I think modern machine guns should also be legal. Do I feel more safe with machine guns? No. They’re not particularly accurate and a waste of money and bullets. As far as background checks are concerned, I think the real problem is we don’t have meaningful interactions any more with family, friends, and communities. I also think the media is 100% responsible for encouraging people who are already half crazy (The shooters manifestos are the same talking points you hear on cable TV). I also think we lack healthy gun culture, which should be taught as elective courses in schools and summer camps the same as we do for archery or woodworking.

But why stop at automatic guns? How about we also have tanks, RPGs and missiles etc.

Apple d37sk38 Aug 14, 2019

I’m not sure why people keep saying you can’t have these things. They are legal to own, at least tanks, RPGs and armed aircraft. Armed aircraft are illegal to fly but you can own one. https://www.pewpewtactical.com/how-to-buy-tank/

No! I qualified as marksman on the M4A1 Carbine when I was in the military. These weapons are designed to KILL AS MANY HUMANS AS POSSIBLE in a short amount of time. Use for civilians should be severely limited.

NVIDIA 420_Blaze Aug 13, 2019

No bruh, just an Iraq Vet telling your Zuck ass what assault weapons do

NVIDIA 420_Blaze Aug 14, 2019

Who said I was in the US Army? I was Air Force Security Forces. Defensor Fortis dweeb.

Some aholes are carrying assault weapons and that too in Walmart and say it’s a social experiment to see if my second amendment is protected - these aholes don’t know that they are actually aholes and if they expected nobody should panic , I wonder where we went wrong as a society https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/10/us/walmart-armed-man-missouri-second-amendment/index.html

I love fully “automated” weapons. Like my own personal terminator.

Recall that our government derives its powers from the consent of the governed. That means if we give our government access to any particular weapon, then we, the people, must retain access to that same weapon. It's one of our checks and balances.

Amazon N8rh4a Aug 14, 2019

Then lets pass a bill to get nuclear weapons also in the hands of civilians. What can possibly go wrong?

Concur Dr. Monkey Aug 14, 2019

I'd trust my fellow responsible gun owners with nukes far more than I trust the POTUS.

Require the current background checks but let people buy tanks if they wanted to, constitutional carry! An armed society is a polite society.
