I have a YouTube channel + teach online course and last 6 months I have consistently pulled ~$15k / month. I work 55-60 hours at FB and can't spend enough time to grow my online business. I have several ideas through which I can multiply my income. Should I quit FB? Or join a chilled place (Cisco, Intel - sorry folks don't mean to put you down etc.)? with a 30-35 hour work load.
15k a month is nothing to sneeze at. If you can make it completely passive, you can sell it for millions.
It's not fully passive as I need to make new videos every week. But if I focus and add other income streams and if executed well I can easily see it growing to $25-$30k / month. [Updated title]
You're in a great position man!! If you don't mind, can you share what you did differently that allows you start having these passive streams. I basically don't know where to start right now.
I’m risk-averse. So my suggestion would be to have a safe job with better wlb, to hedge the unexpected risk in your business during the bad days. Btw good job on growing your business!
Thanks. This makes sense. How is WLB at LinkedIn?
Depends on org and your level, but generally more chilled than FB, especially at senior level(it’s a very wide band). One more thing I want to add, if your business/content are related to or inspired by software engineering, it’s better to stay employed at big tech companies so you have access to good tech and new ideas.
Cisco for sure. What’s your YouTube channel
Haha. I will dox myself :)
Come work at oracle oci. They will pay you as much. You will have good wlb (40h max work per week. Minimum of 5 weeks vacation a year). And I know a manager that would be ok with your side business and will probably help you a lot
Is OCI Seattle only?
No there is also in santa clara I think and some are full remote
TheTechLead?
What are your courses about?
Join Salesforce work 30 hours a week they might even match if you negotiate only be wary no refreshers here
Are you joma?
Focus on your business. Scale it up with your ideas. You will be happier and make more in the long run. Give yourself a buffer of how many years/months you can afford to go all in on your side business and take the risk.

Definitely pursue your dream by concentrating on your business if it means to join a company with less workload. But less workload comes with less benefits, but in your case it is worth it.
Thanks. I would like to work to not pay for medical insurance. The other perks like free food is meaningless for me.
This is exactly it. Join a company with easy pace and WLB for the health care. Rake in the money with your passive income, and enjoy life. FANGs are overrated.
