Is there any issues that I quit after joining 3 weeks? The pay is good, but just feel imposter syndrome. The team members are all from top school Phd, and have lots of patents and papers. I have zero related experience and no patents. Ex- manager told me I can go back anytime
I don’t think you should quit, just try to learn and contribute
unless they're pushing you out the door realizing they made a mistake hiring, learn as much as you possibly can, in 6 months reconsider if you're still feeling the same way. 3 weeks is not enough time, everyone feels inferior until at least 6 months
Don't compare and think what others do.. You are payed for your work and your experience.. Just focus on you and do what can be done.. Comparisons demotivates you.. Like other folks in your career you might not had opportunity to get patents.. May be now it's your time to work with them and learn and do better .. Your decision/ thoughts seems to be incorrect .. Think wisely otherwise you may regret later for missing this opportunity..
Why the hell would you quit after 3 weeks? I've never seen such an example of imposter syndrome wow. You need a reality check. If the metric for success is how many PHDs or patents/papers other people have then you will never feel happy or get over this feeling. This is your opportunity to LEARN from them. I feel like even with a minimal amount of effort and competency you can keep your job easily.
I don’t expect new employees to do much even after 3 months. Take your time and relax. Your manager seems like a nice dude, you will do fine!
Don’t self reject please, rather take it opportunity to learn and grow, if they offered you position they saw potential in you. On side note, please give a read to book named Mindset by Carrol Dweck. I authors word , you are approaching this with fixed mindset , just using growth mindset will change entire scenario. Book is definitely worth read , who have constant imposter syndrome and confidence issues.
I have degree from state school, no patents, and I’m the TL of a mid size group of all PhDs. Don’t worry about it. Hard work can overcome a lot and EQ can put you miles ahead of brilliant people.
Fight!
That's even better. You can piggy back on your team members and get your name on some parents by helping them out
I wouldn’t leave because of imposter syndrome, but if the place is a shit show absolutely!
