TL;DR if I quit my internship at Google now, do I have any chances of getting a full time offer on the future? Or all the doors will be shut down? Hello, I am an intern at Google, but I don't like it to the extend that I am considering quitting. If I do this, will I be able on the future to work there as a full time? My plan is to find a full time job at another company right after that (I was contacted for a job I really liked and I believe my chances of getting an offer there are high).
Did you already quit, or are you considering it? How much time do you have left? I think if you give a reason that isn’t “I hate doing this” you might be fine. It really just depends on if people are pissed at you for quitting or think you quit because you can’t handle the work
I am considering it. So, if they think I can't handle the work, it will be fine? In my case, I am performing well so far and my hosts are satisfied by my work.
Sorry that was poorly worded. I think it would also be bad if they though you quit because you can’t handle it. Basically if the excuse is medical or grieving a loved one you would be fine, but something that isn’t like a personal reason outside your control would be bad
Kids these days !!
Can you finish your Google internship and then go for the next opportunity afterwards? If the next opportunity isn't flexible for your start date, then I don't think it's a good opportunity. Also, I wouldn't want to burn Google's bridge.
Kick rocks, kid. Have some respek.
Depends when you consider the future to be. I doubt anyone will remember in 5 years. What will you do if you do if you quit? Should have something lined up before leaving
Since it’s only for a month more I would say just try to get through it. Since you don’t like it now why would care about coming back full time? You probably wouldn’t like it then anyways
The project I am doing is much much much different than normal Google work. This is because it's a virtual internship. I think I would love working on a normal project.
Can you define what does a “normal google work” or “normal google project” mean ? There are millions of projects at google. Out of which thousands are often trashed out at some point. You got a lot to learn, kid.
If you don't like the project why don't you tell them that? Just because you're an intern doesn't mean you can't have a say. Also, definitely not recommend quitting when you have just a month left. Don't unnecessarily burn bridges. Now if the reason was something different like sexual harassment etc then its a different case. Also use a poll
Well, my hosts knows my concerns but even they can't do anything to change even a bit from the project. The situation is very strange this year.
You hate the internship so much but you want a full time offer from them? Interns are literally paid to have fun for a summer lol
Well, believe me, for me, doing anything else rather than this particular internship would be much more fun.
It's just 1.5 months left, cruise through it
My advice would be to power through it. A month and a half is not that long even if you don’t like the work. Try to do the best job you can. Not wise to potentially burn any bridges.
How long is it
It ends on one and a half months from now.
I would power throughout
