I quit my job and spent last 2 months to launch this app GoodnightJournal.com. I would love to get your honest feedback on it!
Congratulations!
Thank you! However, I still have a long way to go and need your help to improve the app!
I would let people browse more stuff without signing up, you'll see that only around 1-3% of page visits translate to sign-ups. I see 2 different focus areas: tools for private journaling (daily reminder, topic suggestion etc) and community for public journaling. I would pick the first and grow the community organically. Diaries are meant to be private so once it's written with the knowledge that it's going to be public it loses its character. So yeah I would focus on private journaling, and have an option of sharing it to the community after it's been written. Kind of like meditations by Marcus Aurelius, which was a private diary shared publically afterwards.
Thank you so much for the great feedback! They are very helpful! Yes, I agree with that to have more stuffs for people to browse before singing up.
1. Make it obvious that you have iOS/Android apps 2. Drop the Emojis for the membership comparison table 3. What kind of tech did you use for the product?
Thank you! I assume you are a designer? :) I used React with AWS Amplify.
I was a freelance web designer in college. Very cool...will have to check out React and the AWS product you mentioned!
Yay! Congratulations 🎊🥳🥳🥳🥳
Thank you so much for the positive comment!! Makes me wanna work harder 😊
I wish u all the best. I'll be checking out the app for sure
Looks pretty cool! I doubt most people here are your target demographic but it would be interesting to see how you adverise this to get it in front of your target demographic though. Good luck!
Thank you. Marketing is not my expertise but I will try my best since I can’t afford to hire an marketing expert lol
Congrats. 1. I assume your TC is now 0? What's your plan to start making money? 2. When and how will you know if the project is not successful and you need to get another job? 3. Why haven't you launched it on a side, while still being employed?
Thank you! 1. Yes, almost 0. I want to build a community where all journal writers can meet and interact and hopefully they support me to run this app. 2. I gave myself 3 mouths to go all in. I will probably spent one or two extra months and see where it takes me. Even if I end up getting another job, I will have this going on a side for sure! 3. I did for awhile and it was a very slow process with a full time job. I wanted to fully focus for the first version launch and I actually prepared for that for years.
Thanks. I'm in a similar situation, I've been building the product on a side and plan to launch while still being employed.
congrats! what was your previous job?
Thank you! I was a product designer at a startup.
Of that’s your target demo, social media is going to be your best friend in order to get the word out! Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.
Thank you! I probably need some tips on social media marketing lol
What's your target demographic you're catering to? (Curious)
My main demographic is female age 18 to 35 according to the analytics.
Kinda reminds me of Xanga like 15 years ago. Looks like a clean UI so far! Format of the posts look like Blind, so it familiar there.
