Finalizing a 2 week vacation around Spain for this July. Current itinerary includes Barcelona and Gijon. For the last 3-4 days, I’m weighing the option between Madrid and Lisbon. Curious if anyone has an opinion on which is best to visit. Madrid looks bigger, but I’ve heard it is like any other big city and not super interesting. Travelers include myself (26M) and my gf (26F). Looking for good food, good scenery, and good vibes ✌️
Madrid is quite boring. It has more luxurious accommodations though. Lisbon is more vibrant. If you have two weeks you can easily visit three of Porto, Lisbon, Madrid, and Barcelona.
Thanks! Some additional context is that we are going to Gijon for a wedding which will take up 5 days in the middle of the trip. The first 4 we for sure want to do Barcelona, which just leaves us the last 4 days to figure out
In that case do Madrid. You can take the high speed train from Gijón to Madrid. I think it takes less than 4 hours with no changes. You will have to fly to Lisbon and back because trains between Spain and Portugal are very slow.
Lisbon from Money Heist 🔥

Haven't been to either but my previous manager told me that Lisbon (and Portugal in general) is amazing. Also, I think you want be near a beach during summer in Europe :)
Valid
Go to Ibiza
What are good suggestions for Barcelona? Hotel, spots, etc. want to plan a trip there

Lisbon & Portugal is really cool, enjoyed it last year
Madrid is easier logistically, and while the city itself may not be as vibrant as Lisbon, you can consider it as a base for day trips to Toledo or Segovia
"Yes OP go to Madrid in order to go to Toledo/Segovia" 🥸
If you need help planning your itinerary.. message me. I’m a travel advisor.
Have you looked at the weather in Madrid in July? There's only one right answer here.
Haven’t been to Lisbon. But Madrid doesn’t need 3-4 days imo. I was able to hit all major spots in 2 days including soccer game at bernabeu.
Thanks!
