I am on H1B visa. Due to some urgent needs we are contemplating to take trip to India in January. Air India and United operate direct flights. Has anyone travelled on this route within last 6month? How was ur experience. Also: Given the uncertainty what if flights getting curtailed suddenly, is opting for a govt airline (Air India) a “safer bet” in any regard. Please chime in. #workvisa #h1b #travel
From a flying experience, United is a tad better. Otherwise, there is not much difference in terms of one being “safer bet” than other.
Second the United. Better plane, non lazy flight attendants. And remember that United is typically a second Rate carrier, compared to the others. But Air India beats United on the way down
Air India has high cancellation and change fees. Their customer service sucks. We tried to change a flight date, and here's what happened: Put on hold for 3 hours straight. The automated voice kept saying you're x in line. That x went from 8 to 20 to 97 to 15 and so on. We had to hear 3 hours of "air India wishes you a safe flight". After 3 hours, a lady picked up and wrote down the details of the changed flight. She said the "ticketing department" will call you in 3 business days. Apparently, customers aren't allowed to speak with the ticketing department or place a request online. That department never called back. We finally called MakeMyTrip where we'd booked the tickets from, spent an hour with their agent, and got the tickets changed. One hell of an experience. I wouldn't book with air India ever again. I'd pay more money or even take a 1 stop flight.
My communication with Air India customer service was smooth.
Similar experience, but with United.
Whatever you do book on credit card so you can fight in the case of cancellation
Book on air India website directly instead of make my trip. The communication is smoother.
United and air India both are equally good in terms of govt policies of changing and cancelling flights. Make sure you book direct flight. If I were you, I would book United since service is better.
pay the blind tax. TC OR GTFO
Why TC needed for asking travel question…
Both can cancel flight anytime in our case the day before by Air India. United has already moved our ticket by two days for Jan trip. Flying experience is better in United but if Emirates is an option go for it.
United is better
Can you elaborate the reason
You’re comparing it to air india
