Hey guys, Need help in understanding how someone would handle the situation where his last RSU (around 27k) vesting schedule is on Sunday and other company gives me joining date of Monday saying I can utilize my last vesting and they are not ready to match that for early joining even if I am ready to join early and miss the vesting. Now if someone resigns on Monday for 2weeks notice then generally manager enters the last working day as following 2nd week Friday and hence I might miss last vesting of shares. Also because Sunday is holiday and stock exchange is off mostly off that day then the vesting would happen on following Monday by which I’ll be out of company already. Suggest how to manage this situation without losing the last vesting schedule. Will I loose vesting even if manager Enter last working day as Sunday because stock exchange is closed. Make Wednesday or the following week your last day? It's not that hard. If you're already on bad terms, then wait till after vest.

Only if my new company is ready to match the missed RSU, I asked the recruiter he said they can’t and hence gave me joining date after Sunday (which is my last vesting date )
Why do you need to give two weeks notice? Isn't it employment at will?
It is but as generally accepted to leave on good will it’s recommended to give 2 weeks notice. Tech world is small (even though it looks big) and people cross each other somewhere sometime affecting careers
I wrote an email and gave last working day as Sunday. Worked well for me.
Is that possible ? Will they enter last workday day as Sunday ? And if I do the same then will I still be eligible for vesting on Sunday ? As stock market is closed then will i lose if it actually vests on Monday and I’ll be out by that time

I am still working remote, that’s not a problem here, now working remote would help ? I can’t be employed at two companies at once as I am on visa
Why not just have a slight overlap in dates? It’s not like your old job is going to expect a lot of work from you toward the end of your time.
Is that allowed on h1b ? I don’t think I can be employed for 2 companies for same day as full time. This is challenging

This is a pretty simple problem to fix. You push your start date with your new job back. If they refuse to do that then you probably shouldn’t join this new company because if they deny you starting a week or two later then they’ll also deny you for other things (PTO, WLB) once you’ve joined. It would be a super red flag.
Nothing like that, they already gave me 1 month delayed joining because of my RSU miss, it’s FAANG company by the way with very solid project
Call sick at new company on Monday, teusday and join Wednesday
I wouldn’t call out sick on my first day. If you’re remote for old job, put Monday or Tuesday as last day and just start new job on Monday. Your former employer won’t expect a lot from you anyway. Other option would be to ask to start mid-week or following week. I usually give myself a week (or more) to decompress before starting a new job.
