How RSU investments function when hired at Microsoft? Isn't it that once you are employed, a "set number" is determined and remains fixed. After the first year, a predetermined number of shares are deposited every three months, so it's always a fixed # of shares, say 18.78, and not a fluctuating number like 17.55, then 16.30, etc, right? Any clarification would be appreciated. #microsoft
$$$ amount gets converted to number of shares base on the closing price on whatever day is used, then that I'd equally divided into a vesting schedule. So you get the same number of shares each vest.
So you say the Dollar amount is fixed, but the # of shares is not? And the base price is calculated for each quarter?
No, that's not what I said at all. I can't even comprehend how you got that from what I said. Typically, we find out $$$ of rewards in mid-August. On the last business day in August, the closing price is used. Take the $$$ and divide it by the share price. So let's say you got $30k grant and share price was $300. So that's 100 shares. That 100 shares is divided equally into the vesting schedule.
It’s the share price on the grant date. It will fluctuate <1 share per vest after that
It’s not that it fluctuates, that’s confusing without elaborating. When they split the amount of shares in quarters, if the number is not even, they don’t give stock fractions, instead, some quarters you get x and the next one you get x+1.
