RTA tax on car

What is the deal with the RTA tax? Whose idea was it to tax on car value? I thought originally it was proposed to be based on mileage, which would at least be more fair. Is there a way to avoid paying this? Imagine a tesla owner (80k car) is now also on the hook for about $800 a year, even if you don't drive it often.

The liberals in Seattle. Did you not READ the details of the issue last election? It's all in there.... You have a chance to fix this by voting non-democrat and actually change Seattle from the current cesspool it is. So glad to live in unincorporated king county and don't pay this tax.

Should a Tesla and a civic owner pay the same? I think it should incorporate both!

Retroactively yes.

You are liberal and you want more tax. Isn't it the case?

And why I voted no on the bill. They put it together so fast as always and not many read the details. Good news on 20 years I will have public transportation in my neighborhood from the increased tax.

I don't think there is a way to get out of paying. I suppose can move a little bit further away where the train will not go to.
