I guess that's not new news to anyone, but I think someone here said it's because commercial real estate companies are pressuring companies to RTO so that employees spend money on coffee shops and lunch. (granted, I think a lot of the buildings are amazon-owned?) https://komonews.com/news/local/amazon-return-to-office-seattle-tech-seattle-puget-sound-washington-downtown-economy
Jassy did specifically say he wanted us to buy more lunch and coffee as a result of RTO But pretty sure it’s to force more attrition without having to pay severance
yeah, I think I saw a comment on doing it to force attrition, which makes sense too
Buy REIT today. We going to moon
Nah
I'm starting to realize how much power real estate owners (Landlords / Slumlords) have over everyone.
Good for our housing prices
Why is it important for you to have your house prices to go up? If you don't sell it later, it will only hurt you on property taxes
If you let commercial real estate collapse there will be not bailouts which in turn means economic collapse.
If you let horse carriage builders collapse there will be not bailouts which in turn means economic collapse. Industries die. Industries contract. Commercial real estate has a dropping market value and trying to save it will only lead to more market inefficiencies until it corrects.
