Who would’ve thought RTO would cause companies to lose the talent most crucial to their bottom line? Pft I’m shocked.. who could’ve seen this coming? /s Lol https://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-developers-say-mandatory-return-to-office-policy-has-cost-us-some-amazing-people/?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialflow&fbclid=IwAR0phC4AAYZPByCi56Rb0dGhzYffvS4zLosrHSePKIYThANkfWqwuhrcOfw #returntooffice #wfh
It's a temporary situation. If core employees leave, there will always be others to replace them seeing the lucrative opportunities to work in that company domain, and ready for RTO. No one is special. What we are seeing is a reshuffling of employees as part of shift from WFH to RTO policies
Statistically, 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people. When that 20% leaves, it causes seismic issues for the people left behind. Execs can “reshuffle” all they want. They’ll keep losing Aces from the deck.
Again, those 20% people need jobs. All companies sooner or later will ask for RTO. And the few companies who are RTO friendly won’t have enough resources to hire the best players. Think logically
Voluntary exit of employees is exactly what companies want. Thats why RTO is being enforced
They don’t want to lose the people who generate the most profit. And yet, That’s what’s happening. Lol
No company is dependent on any single person to make the most profit. All employees are replaceable
RTO is working
🤡
Dam HR comments all over this post
TL; DR they are going to delay Diablo IV release??
it’s almost as if happy people are more productive. smart companies will be more flexible and hire from anywhere
Cummins your problem is poor management, not WFH. Simple fix, require people to be available certain hours. Plus, it's not like it was ever polite / good practice to go tap someone on the shoulder when they're not responding fast enough to your inquiry.
that sounds like a small sample size, but i will say in my experience, people who are unproductive wfh were equally unproductive in the office.
Recent quality of blizzard games is correlated with WFH. They figure it can’t get much worse but want to go back to how things used to be. I see this as a win for blizzard even if they temporarily lose people
There has been a decrease in general satisfaction from their recent releases.
Yea I think wfh plays a part
Blizzards leadership team must really miss their in office culture of sexual harassment if they’re willing to sacrifice their top employees for RTO.
This is good and bad. Good that employees still have a slight upper hand. Bad because demand for labor is dropping and the good talent which is leaving because of RTO is going to suffer. We are not bigger than the company. The same way a sports person is not bigger than their team.
When all the best players on the team leave, the ones left behind are cooked.
you do realise the best players need jobs too? If all companies follow RTO mandate, then that leaves the best players jobless. Contributes to unemployment and that’s what the Fed wants. People are digging their own graves and they’ll realise soon
