JPMorgan Chase RTO with long commute
I just need to vent about how stupid RTO is at chase. I started at the end of last year and negotiated with my executive director 1-2 days in the office per week mainly because my commute to the office one way is 1.5 hours, 3 hours round trip. He said it wouldn’t be an issue. 1-2 days turned into 2. 2 days turned into 2-3 days. Now I’ve just been told this morning, 3 days in office no exceptions. That’s 9 hours a week I spend just commuting, 468 hours a year. That’s 5% of an entire year spent just driving back and fourth. The kicker is no one from my team is in the fucking office closest to me so everything I do is on zoom. I literally drive in for an hour and a half to sign into zoom and talk to people on my team in a different office location or in India. What is the fucking point? “Collaboration”, they say. With fucking who? The lunch ladies? My manager said that only FWA are exempt from 60% RTO but there is no clause for long commutes. Why is it that I have to drive so far just to sit in an uncomfortable chair do the the exact same fucking thing that I can be doing at home without the commute. It makes no difference whether I call someone from India at my house or 50 miles away in the office. Are they going to compensate me for the bullshit time I have to spend driving into the office for no reason? Surely that should be at least a 25%-35% pay increase. Fat chance. I’m actively looking at other companies because this is such bullshit. Any recommendations or referrals would be greatly appreciated. Chase only requires you to be in the office for 4 hours for it to count as a day. So you can leave after 4 hours to drive home

If no one from your team is at the office just have a colleague take your badge and bags you in during the day
I could do that but I’m pretty sure they monitor people who are in the office by video and op address to see if you’re actually there
That's because work from home is detrimental to lot of business like real estate, accessories, consumer goods..etc. these business are customers of jpmc. So they won't ever encourage wfh model

Why don’t you just move?
Because I just bought a house. If I sell it now I’ll take a massive loss. Plus I don’t believe in moving for a company that I don’t plan to stay with for more than 2 years
