Have offers for Director of Eng. at FB and Chime: TC ~ $750k at both. Does Chime offer annual stock refresher? I know FB has a pretty good refresher
Assuming that at least 400k of your package is equity, Facebook. I hate the company Facebook from the bottom of my heart but I hate losing money to illiquid options of pre-IPO companies more. If your risk tolerance is high enough (you're close to fuck-you money), go Chime because it's likely to IPO within a few years if the tech market remains hot, and equity might go >10x from your strike. FB is lucky to double.
Thanks a lot. Any idea about stock refresher at both? I come from humble background so no where close to fuck-you money
Do you realize 10x means - 150b market cap.? Is that something achievable?
should be 1M+ for engg director.
Hmmm I’ve seen much higher TC on Levels.FYI for director of Eng at FB, around $1mil+. I always thought $750k was for M2. Btw, for Chime, was your first phone screen with the hiring manager? I had my phone screen with the HM last Thursday for M1, but I haven’t heard anything back. Surprisingly, he gave me his email address when we were done and said if I have any questions I can email him.
Chime is a bit slow, they take a few days to get back. Do you know anything about stock refresher at Chime vs FB?
I don’t know, sorry. I haven’t got that far with them yet.
Another thing to consider is wlb. Facebook’s work life balance is bad!! I’ve heard Chime’s wlb is great.
Chime is great. We have refreshers. WLB is 👏🏼
Hey thanks for your reply. Can you provide any details about annual refresher? How much to expect and is it at promotion only?
How frequent are the refreshers? A friend who works there said you get your refreshers after 2 years/50% of your initial grant?
Comp is super low for a Director offer at FB. Software eng directors at FAANG make over $1M easily. FB can also do $100k sign on for regular engineers, I can’t even imagine director negotiations.
Dabbling in the low $1M-$3Ms
For Chime, is it assuming a valuation of $30 billion?
This. How are you calculating TC?
No, recruiter told me the grant is based on $41/stock i.e $14.5bn valuation
For sure, my recruiter was pretty clear about it
You mean new offer at 80 or 41?
41
FB lowballed the offer.., please ask more- close to 1 million plus - they assumed you were in Midwest and didn’t know about Bay Area offers so lowballed the offer
Comp seems lower for director level at FB?
Whats the typical comp? I am moving from mid west to SF so have very little idea about what to expect. YoE: 15
North of 1M
