I work in RCH, though not in the mobile phone unit. Are you looking to be a software engineer? That's the only way to get paid well.

Swe here also working in RCH. If you need insight you must give the details context first. But i can say that working for R is a good experience for me.

Blackhole! RMI is the worst place. If you you join the company expect complete chaos. No IT processes in place. I work with terrible coders with zero sense of how coding is done in real world. They hire people with zero knowledge of IT and make them software engineers. Anyone can get a job at RMI… Worst part is the salary…. across japan pay salaries are miserable.

Working in RMI @RCH, Tokyo. Depends on whats ur background. If you are a telecom veteran, it will be an ok place. If you are from IT field or a fresher, RUN... That's my advice to you. The only regret I heard from people who left this place is that they should have left sooner. All the managers are telecom people, know nothing about the lifecycle of a software and wants complete softwares to be delivered in hours. Everything ends up broken. The work culture is not at all that of Rakuten or even Japanese. You will be lucky if you can get into some japanese or european team. But chances are less as most of the teams are purely Indian. Eventhough I myself am an Indian coming from Indian IT industry, the culture I saw in the Indian teams here is worse than anything I have heard even in India. Basically all Indian managers here are in huge pressure to prove themselves and they end mistreating their subordinates. This starts from the Indian CTO down to the section managers. Everyone tries to micromanage and show their power. The worst place ever!

Don't be fooled by the 2.9 rating of Rakuten here. If there was a separate section for Rakuten Mobile, it would be rated below 1 star !
