Meta?
Ya ... missed meta ... consider it in others
Kurian isn’t really changing or influencing engineering culture. His focus is on business side of things. The biggest risk to GCP is the large influx of non google people at all levels into GCP as new hires But even considering that they have done a good job. The complaints you hear outside are isolated (remember GCP is big percentage of google now) and is bound to happen in any rapidly growing org of this size.
Core culture of gcp is very different than google. I agree to the point of stiff cloud competition, kurian have to make tough decesions. Fun fact: kurian have identical twin brother who is ceo of netapp. He can switch company tags if bored :) no full loop interview required :)
Can confirm for OCI. Managers can also be piped.
Should be meta instead of GOOGLE, LOL
Literally 4/6 of your points are related to Cloud according to your description - Amazon, Azure, OCI, GCP. You can just group it as such
Does oci pip with ura quota? Is it hire and fire company
No. They can't do it because ton of people are leaving anyway
Amazon have high # of employees, so expected more votes. Foecast prediction: Coinbase & robinhood will win top PIPer % award as they have less employees and high pip #.
Don’t think we actually pip unless you suck / don’t perform at all
Agree .. pip for non-performers. But perf review cycle is every 3 months which is bit short. If anyone fall sick or take 3 week xmas vacation, will he be end with pip meetings? With 2 consecutive below average rating in last 6 months eligible for pip?
The 3m cycle is honestly just talk .. we have a full annual cycle and a lighter one at mid year Managers technically have to do checkins every 3m, but I was always just told “all good” without any real review
Google has more PIP than Meta??
Tldr; But, voted Amazon.
