210 base, 20% bonus, 100k refreshers, 45 sign on first year, 60 new hire RSU that vests quarterly in 3 years. Location is Seattle. Y1 is 305 Y2 is 330 Y3 is 365 Y4 is 360 Average TC is 330 in 4 years. Trying to make a decision to move to WMT or stay at Amazon as an L6 PMT. Current role has no path to L7, and I have an internal offer to start in another team as an L6 PMT in GenAI/ LLM projects in Jan. While the area is interesting, it means starting from scratch in a new team, so no promo path in next couple years. The WMT offer is as a manager role (3 team PM), which is my desired career path. At Amazon there is no clear path to manage a team in 2024. The WMT area is not as cutting edge as the GenAi offer. Questions around career trajectory with WMT in resume instead of Amazon. 1.- Moving to WMT a downgrade for resume in case want to move back to FAANG? 2.- What is PM culture at WMT? Heard PMs are more of execution type of PMs (program management) rather than true tech PMs . 3.- Any pointers in timelines to move to Director as GPM? 4.- Considering most of the eCommerce leadership is in CA, how does this impact growth? Role is in Seattle. 2024 TC is 335k due to Amazon stock appreciation. Since I am moving to a new team I expect in 2025 to drop to closer to beginning of the band at 300k. I would leave about 30k on the table first year, but likely to make it up starting in Y2. Been at Amazon 7 years, with 4 as a PM. For reference, WMT average 330 TC is the equivalent of top tier at Amazon. Unlikely to maintain TT at Amazon consistently each year. Any pointers in WMT for PM trajectory?#amazon #walmart
I did the same thing went from amzn l6 pmt. HATED it .. Walmarts a joke for product. I left in 6 months back to Amazon
Thank you. What did you find terrible about Walmart compared to Amazon?
Is Walmart remote? I'll switch just for that
Walmart PMs are in reality Project / Program managers. Stay away unless it is ur only option. Additional Context - I am a WMT Staff PM.
Thank you. Can I DM you?
This is my main concern.
Meh
It honestly depends on the team. I definitely have a product role with a fairly supportive team. But I also know teams and product managers that have a more project manager scope. The Walmart name doesn’t seem to be a blocker for me to get a ton of recruiters reaching out all the time.
Seems like u already know ur answer. Have fun at WMT!
