Hi Blinders, I am currently working as SMTS in OCI. Got offer from Walmart for Staff engineer. Need your opinion on the offer. Is it good to join Walmart. Please give your opinions based on career progression, brand, WLB etc. Total YOE - 12 OCI TC - 41 L(38+3pf) + 18 L(200 units RSU) - 59LPA Walmart offer - 52.4 L ( 50 + 2.4pf) + 12.5L ( annual bonus) + 25L (annual rsu) + 9L(new hire stock vesting in 3 years) - 93L Role - Staff Engineer Note - RSU vesting is in 3 years. So for 1st year rsu is of 25/3, 2nd year is 25*2/3, 3rd and onwards it is 25L yearly. Note: posting this from friends account who works in Walmart. He says work quality is not good in Walmart and suggests to stay in OCI. Reason for looking outside OCI - No promotion or hike, lots of ops work etc. #walmart , #oci, #google, #microsoft , #faang, #salesforce #bangalore, #oracle
Yes. First year it is 8.33, 2nd year it is 16.6 and 3rd year and onwards it is 25L.
Are you dumb? Per your explanation, it’s 8.33 every year, amounting to 25 in 3 years. How did you get the job?
Seems like you didn’t read the post properly. The rsu grant is annual which is 50% of base coming as grant of 25L each year. So what I have written above is right. May be you are dumb so not able to understand.
So what do you suggest abcdnow?
Not suggesting anything, just telling that TC for first year would be 76L, don’t consider it as 93L. So it is less than 30% hike compared to your current TC.
Not worth it.
Average Package for Staff role. I am sure the next day you join, you will start finding it less once you face your team, work and WLB. So if there is still time keep interviewing and find some better place where you love the work too.
One of my friend with 10 years exp and at staff role also has the same package. So it is less as compared to 12 years of exp. You can negotiate more on base around 58-62 LPA (i.e. 50% hike on current base)
They don’t want to negotiate. How is yearly hikes, bonus. I am aware that the package offered by Walmart is average. I worked at SAP for long period before switching to OCI which lead to overall low package. What I feel is whatever company I switch now they would lowball me based on my current OCI package and given market situation. My situation in OCI is not that well either. Hikes and bonus is meagre and work is mostly grunt work like ops etc. Can you please let me know if Walmart Staff on resume get me good company interview calls say if I stay there for couple of years. Imo, Walmart looks relatively safe from layoffs and fairly stable stocks. OCI and lots of other companies laying off or even rescinding offer. I thought on all of these criteria’s and getting inclined towards Walmart.
Average tc for staff. May be Walmart is taking advantage of the market. Make sure you talk to the hiring manager about the team and your role before joining(if you join). There are too many teams at Walmart where you are setup for failure
Did you just post the possibility of getting refreshers in TC? I don’t think that’s the right way of calculating TC. Walmart folks please confirm here
Where did you join, in same boat now.

Your Walmart TC comes to be around 76L, considering 3year vesting. Not 93L.
No. The RSU grant happens every year. So it is 25 L grant every year. So for first year, it is 25/3, 2nd year it is 25*2/3, and 3rd year and onwards it is 25L each year. I know grant and vesting is little confusing in Walmart.
But still first year you would be getting 8.33L only right, which you can cash out?
