You probably could have if you had contacted your recruiter by march but post-hiring freeze there isn’t any headcount to make you an offer.

Fresh offers not signed before start of this month were revoked. So, it's impossible for your case.
If you had signed an offer in March for start date in June, is it revoked?

I think reneging makes it even worse. If you had just declined the offer you might have had a slim chance, but reneging = guaranteed 0%. Trust me, I have seen managers deal with people reneging and they are NOT happy
My understanding is that declining the offer is never a problem - you can come back up to a year later and have the offer reopened. I totally get that reneging could be a major issue, which is why I’m asking.
Normally they might extend your offer up to a year if there is headcount open. But I’m pretty sure DS headcount is closed right now.
Reneging puts you on a no fly list at both g and amzn, imagine it's the same for fb

Reach out to your recruiter. I'm connected to a Meta Employee in a supervisory role. He was sharing a colleague's posting as of 3 days ago, so it's definitely not *all* roles with a hiring freeze.

I did something similar but with a 9 - 10 month gap. Just reach out to the recruiter that set up your original interviews.
