Reach vest on PIP?

Have an appeal scheduled 5 weeks before a big vest. PIP is 30 days which comes after a failed appeal, which is not enough time and Amazon can terminate me any time during PIP. PIP deliverables are unrealistic for a single person. Severance amount is 1/4 of the vest. What are my options in getting the vest, or at least higher severance based on missing such a big vest?

@op they usually put you on Pivot before you go on PIP. To be sure, are you past the Pivot and are already on PIP? I know someone who negotiated their severance to include their vest during pivot. Maybe try that?

I received Pivot doc and have an appeal scheduled soon. So I'm in Pivot, not yet in PIP. What did your acquaintance use to negotiate severance? These are non-negotiable based on Pivot doc. Was this at Amazon?

I know his vest was going to overlap with his 30 day PIP and he was trying to drag it out so he also got his vest. As I understand the story, he brought up that overlap to HR and his manager and they granted him the vest + severance. It was his first year and was only 5% though. The rationale is that he was toxic to the team and it was better for him to leave sooner than later.

Go on pto, vacations, sick leave, ensure that manager goes on pto, vacations, sick leave, argue with HR, launch accusations of discrimination, etc. (these need to be investigated, which takes time), to stretch it out. I have seen appeal postponed for 8 weeks due to reasons above. Profit. Enjoy.

Read HR Leave docs and study closely the types of leave and whether vesting continues or not on that leave. Vacation or non Short Term Disability FMLA typically continue to vest. Taking STD might stop vesting.

FMLA at Amazon will get you 2 weeks before they freeze your vesting.
