Any recommendations? Currently using chase but theirs sucks.

I like simple. If you have more than 10k it’s 2.15% APY. And it’s a lot more flexible than a savings account (unlimited transfers in/out). Ally bank is pretty common.

Marcus by Goldman Sachs is quick, easy, reliable. Recommend it over ally.

What is Marcus ? Also i dont see any goldman sachs bank here in bay area

It’s a completely online bank, but that’s how they can offer a high yield. I’ve never had problems with it. The security is great (unlike Ally)

Ally if you want pure savings account. Muni bond fund if you want a little higher tax free return with a small risk

I use Wealthfront and really like it. DM me for a referral so we can both get an additional 5k in investments managed for free. The savings account is completely free, btw.

Do I have to have a high minimum amount to start with?

Google sqrt(-1) Nov 9, 2019

No. There is no minimum deposit.

I've had a Back of America checking account for a while and never considered moving it... But I was pretty impressed with wealthfront as well so I thought I'd give it a go. Happy so far, FDIC insured and all that jazz. If anyone needs a referral PM me.
