Meta: Adv: Very good team Brand name in tech industry (see temporary dip) Young and enthusiastic employees Very good culture (very superior) Cons: - Joined in Feb (close to 40% dip in RSU value). - Too much bad press lately (hardly no one in the family congratulated me with big smile on their face, few of my elderly relatives asked why I am leaving Amazon) -Stock price going down like a bottomless pit (I know the stock market is going down, but meta is more affected because more than 50% of salary is from stocks) - More importantly I am on H1B and a recent settlement with dol says all perm cases after 6 months will be audited (no more than 40% audit). In addition, they have been watched keenly so meta is following all perm related recruitment process with zero tolerance as such 20 - 25% employees cannot file perm (for 6 months). My PD is Oct 2014 (getting close for current), I am not sure if I should risk staying here at this time. - Stock depreciated 3 year TC (with 1st year sign on) : 350, 290, 320. - if promoted to IC5 in 1 year, then updated 3 year TC (with 1st year sign on): 350, 320, 340 Amazon: (before changing to meta) - I did perform very well, liked the team but due to team politics they thought I had a gap in LP and put me in focus plan. I cleared it, then moved on to Meta on a positive note. Amazon : (connected with a recruiter and got a team match without interview) - new team, manager has great trust in me, thinks high of me as I am a perfect match and probably I am coming from Meta. - Offer details (4 year avg: 350k), probably can go upto 375k YEO: 10 Amzon: L5 SDE Meta: IC4 Question: Should I stay at Meta and try my luck (with comp and green card process) or should I move back to Amazon? FYI: I really liked Meta's work cultur, yet to pick a team (but found a dream team I think not yet finalized since I am in bootcamp), but green card is scaring me more than TC dip. I am on H1B, I did not flexibility to wait until March (to avoid Meta dip), since I had already quit Amazon by the time stocks crashed. Any other suggestions you could think of?
