My father died suddenly at age 58. I have to unlock his phone (and his pc but that should be easier). I have to find out which bank account he had and whether he had life insurance. It's an android based phone. A quick search online says that it is simply not possible. I hope some google/samsung engineer can DM me a trick or something. The phone is not in developer mode. Right now I don't have the energy to reaserch this deeply. Any hint is highly appreciated. Update: I was not able to unlock the phone but I was able to recover most of the bank account password as the forget password procedure would send a sms code and I was able to see the code in the preview notification. Eventually I was also able to unlock the PC and gain access to gmail and everything else. At this point I don't think I need to unlock the phone. I should be able to recover the photo anyway. Thanks a lot to everyone.
6 or 4 digit code? May be able to brute force it. I’m sorry for your loss <3
That's the point. I don't know
Is it an android phone? You might be able to get access to his email and retrieve the phone. Same for iPhone and iCloud.
Yes it's android. How?
I think google has https://support.google.com/accounts/troubleshooter/6357590?hl=en
I’m sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss. As for unlocking phone it might not be possible, given how bad fbi wanted a back door. But it maybe legally possible, as in you show you inherited the phone and the manufacturer will unlock it for you. (I had to do this for my parents iPad when they lost password and it got locked. Sent emails to Apple with proof of purchase and my id and they unlocked it.)
Sorry for your loss. If you can login his PC, then you can check browser bookmark and history, check his email and other accounts if password is remembered by browser.
I’m very sorry for your loss :( sending my love
