How can people expect to transact BTC day to day? To me, this is why BTC will never be a viable "currency". People are telling me to sell it on an exchange, but being a hardcore libertarian I refuse to use exchanges, let alone put my PI and banking info on there. Semi relevant: If you live in the bay area and would like to purchase BTC at 6% off prices AT transaction time, let me know. Face to face cash in public setting. My refusal to use an exchange is your gain. We can do it once the tx fees and confirm times go down (if it ever does...) Screenshot is to transfer $1000 in coins as of 4/19/21 in the afternoon. what the fuck.
Fees are low and transactions settle within an hour and generally much faster. Compared to anything else other than crytpo this is literally days faster and several percentage points less expensive...
$49 tx fee is "low"?! damn, back in my day they were <$2, things have changed quite drastically since then. I can't afford to sit around for an HOUR at a starbucks while doing a cash transaction, that is just not feasible.
Very low, lower than a credit card by a mile. If you want to pay less then lower the transaction fee. Why would you wait an hour at Starbucks. If you used btc it at Starbucks it would be instant (ok like 1 second). You wouldn't convert your btc to cash and then go to an atm and then buy your overpriced coffee. You would jusy transfer btc. In terms of crytp btc is slow and not efficient btw but relative to everything else its or order of magnitude better.
use LTC and other coins
That's your personal problem, somewhat like refusing to use the bank cuz certain fees
Why would a hardcore libertarian refuse to use exchanges? You sound more like an Alaskan homesteader than a libertarian.
My goal is eventually to retire in the Montana backwoods, a la Mark Walberg style in Shooter
Do you send gold as a form of payment? No. BTC is a digital store of value and it’s pretty good for that purpose. Like others said. For transfers use LTC, TRC or tons of other stuff
How long does it take for a transaction to clear if you use a debit or credit card? Usually takes mine at least a few days...
