I spoke to an agency. They said they will submit me for a job, but I never gave explicit consent. Or got confirmation. Then never heard back. Find out the recruiter left the company. In the meantime, the hiring manager talks to me directly. Am I bound to this original agency or can I go with the company’s agency? Does it matter at this point?
Whoever - but I would go with the hiring manager. That is the ultimate decision maker so you want that person to like you. Also, recruiting agencies get a finders fee if you get hired from them, so sometimes employers take into account that extra cost to the company. Something to think about
extra cost = probability of lower salary
Yep sometimes
So honest question, but if the hiring manager doesn't care, then why bother trying to locate any agency? They connected the key people, there's not much left for them to do.
I thought Microsoft has its own recruiting people. Why would another agency be needed? Like if azure reached out to me on LinkedIn and I decided to check it out, it'd be weird to then have to go find a random recruiting agency.
Thanks.
You’re under no obligation to track down the agency. If it comes up later in the process just be honest and explain what happened. The company and the agency will work it out on the back end.
