I am going through my old emails and messages over many years. I have a lot of emails from recruiting companies pitching me on a hot new startup to join. When I google the company names now, they are out of business or stuck at a small size. On the other hand, the startup companies who directly reached out were more likely to succeed. I have email pitches from the DoorDash CTO and Airtable CTO that I wish I responded to. The lessons here: Startups: don't outsource your recruiting. Employees: be careful about jobs from third party recruiters.

Does cardio help for weight loss ?
Since I've always been in the public sector I have no experience with 3rd party recruiters. I've always wondered how that works, but just assumed they got a commission from the company? If the company has to pay a commission for your hire wouldn't that make them want to pay a lower TC to make up for the additional loss of funds?
