I’m senior (not in SWE anymore but still a technical role) at Red Hat and on just slightly higher TC. High cost of living area though. This seems like a good offer from Red Hat standards as far as I can tell.
This is far higher than my management tells me is even possible for Senior SWE. If they'd match that I wouldn't be looking for new jobs.

that’s a pretty high comp for SWE III here. also wlb at red hat is good. strange though cause during our engineering all hands we were told that there would be a hiring freeze until end of year
Yea I was told I couldn't even transfer internally due to freeze lol
Given OPs background and competitive offer - I think RH has very specific role on a very specific team for this guy.
