Expect an initial round of technical interview @ Reddit 60 mins for a Sr. SWE role for Storage Team What kind of questions would it be ? Should I prepare for some design question ? YOE 5.5 TC: 335k
Just cleared the screen for a backend role. Mine was a little different than a typical screen round. It had some time to discuss background and project history. Some open ended questions about data structures and high level system design. Then about 30 mins to do a coding problem which was fairly straightforward. Probably on the low end of a LC medium or even an LC easy.
Thanks for your reply, how is your YOE and what is your target level
10 YoE, target was staff. Looks like they down-leveled me without mentioning it as I just noticed the loop is mostly with senior software engineers.
Op could you share what you tech screen was like? I have one tomorrow with a different team
Yep, it was some background introduction and some project dive deep A coding question LC medium. It is a little bit different from a classic LC problem, you are provided with bad code, and interviewer asked you to debug and fix. Many follow ups but relatively easy
Thank you, do you mind sharing more about the project deep dive, what did they delve into?
No , I was scheduled with a Hiring Manager round. And after that they didn’t move forward anymore.
Mind sharing more about the LC interview? you said its not like the classic - what are some things I can practice to prepare then?
Do you have other interviews lined up? Since you're at Pure Storage I'd imagine you'd be good to go from the domain knowledge side, otherwise good luck with whatever they throw at you. Since it's a Sr. position I'd imagine sys.design is definitely there
Like system design in a phone screen round ?
Nah, probably not the first round, but Ive had the coding and sys.design interviews for other companies scheduled out of order multiple times. They didnt give you the rundown of the interviews?
