Your poll is dumb, just like the Reddit app
It's time for Blind to truly replace reddit, and a better one because those teenagers can't post
agree
Just use web scraping then ? You can get the same data either way. It's just slightly harder now.
Against the TOS so not an option for the big third party app
and can't interact
I have stopped using Reddit for the last week because of this. I find the official app not nearly as good as Apollo and I have plenty of other things fighting for my attention. I already had to severely curate the subreddits I was subscribed to as Reddit was becoming a mindless tiktok-like experience of lazy content. The API change is the extra push I needed to just stop entirely.
I used to use reddit daily years ago, but last year I deleted the app and only use it a little on PC. The default subs have become trash, filled with karma wh*res, astroturfers, and the user quality is down (aka the reddit hive mind). Smaller niche subs were OK, but they can get overrun too. As an example, a lot of the state/local subs are now political cesspools.
I use the mobile browser version mostly, even though it is garbage
So happy I didn't pursue a role with reddit when I was interviewing. They're retreading what happened to digg.
Nobody would care if the official reddit app wasn't dog shit. Twitters app is fine so if wasn't nearly such a big deal.

I’ve always used “old.reddit.com” for my search results since the desktop version of the app is locked down and forces you to either sign in or use the app. It generally gets you around the paywall and gives you a clear outlook that is more true to Reddit. As a side note, Twitter pulled this same nonsense by locking down their desktop version and I will be in favor of it. I absolutely hate how many of the websites where you need to go to get information these days are so locked down. TC: 90K
Fun fact: NSFW content doesn't need login if using old.reddit.com
