Does it make sense for me to leave my existing company TC is 160k. It is cleared scif work. Contract defense based company TS/SCI with CI poly YOE: 7 with a MS in Cloud Computing Redhat offer Title Container Infrastructure Architect Base 165k RSU 18K over 3 years Annual bonus 15% split into 4 quarters discretionary It is remote dealing with commercial Is this a good offer for me Is there any room for sign on bonus base and more rsu?
If you have S or TS level clearance, shoot for Microsoft or Amazon. They have tons of clearance positions and their TC will be much higher than Red Hat
Can confirm, we have a really hard time finding cleared folks and we have a ton of cleared reqs to fill. Come on over!
I have a TS SCI with poly
As already mentioned, are you sure you want to give up your clearance for such a small increase? Also, defense contractors are generally able to weather a down economy better than many commercial sectors.
Did you mean 180k or 18k for RSUs?
Just 18k over 3 years
Why are you mucking about with Red Hat? If you have TS/SCI you should be aiming for AWS, Microsoft, Google, Palantir. They all would pay better and be on a better trajectory than Red Hat.
Where did you get an MS in Cloud Computing? I’ve been looking for something like that. I know it might not be the most useful thing but I kinda wanted an MS lol
Don't come to RH . Its turning into typical IBM company now. The RH culture is gone. You have 7YOE. Why are you even considering taking an offer below 200 k. For context , college grad with new prior work experience are making well above 150 K ( base pay )
Lies I have been in the company for > two years and nothing changed. IBM won't afford to go the old ways. High TC isn't a Red Hat things if you want a very good wlb and working less than 25 hr a week come here. If you need a higher TC then look elsewhere. My two cents
Ask yourself why are you wanting to leave defense contracting. If it’s for the money, then go to one of the major CSPs and make a ton more using your clearance. If it’s because you actually want to tell someone what you do, not fill out a time card, etc… that’s a different story.
The clearance is valuable, not obvious that you want to give that up. Apply to Palantir, shoot me a message. We definitely compensate better.
I could go either way
