Why Red Hat don't have any clear hiring process compared with other big tech, I had 2 recruitment processes with Red Hat from different teams and both of them don't have a clear process. No commitments at all when they will come back to you after the interview , even your job application status on the job portal don't change. If you follow up they will totally ignore you and they will response only if they need you for another interview step? I'm in a middle of architect interview process but I got disappointed from their recurtiers! Can anyone help to advice If Red hat still a good company to join? Also what about the stability now at Red Hat? #redhatinterview #hiring #jobopening #recruiting
In the same boat your in, just finished the interview process for a different position and still waiting on a response back. It’s probably also due to the holidays as a lot of people are taking time off.
Yes, and Red Hat observes a company shutdown at the end of the year. Hiring, macro aside, should pick up in Jan.
Its gonna be really slow until after January. Redhat has a 2 week christmas break and you only accrue pto per quarter. So everyone seems to take it the same quarter.
Yes, Red Hat doesn’t have any interviewing process guidelines. Whether it’s good for you or not depends on your role and team. IMHO, most people come here to retire out of working hard. It pays peanuts. Engineers are not sub-par, only some are. Others are really sub-par
I was a people manager when I was at RH, and can confirm that RH's process is definitely lacking some polish. It's worth calling out that the people team at RH defer to the hiring manager to set the tone of how interviews go. I personally liked this because I'm a bit unconventional when it comes to interviews. I did notice that the people team (when I was there at least) doesn't always follow up with applicants when there's bad news that they didn't get the role. They also were very bad about keeping applicants in the loop. I also found that even if I knew I was going to hire somone inside of RH, I had to post the job externally so there are times when you are putting in the hard work of applying and interviewing without knowing that you have no chance at getting the role. They interview for due diligence. There's definitely a lot of room to improve.

Red Hat is still good to join if you’re interested in what they do. I’ve seen various hiring procedures but I don’t think that there’s a defined standard, it’s more up to the org/department. Typically they just want to see that you’re capable of critical thinking & problem solving. In terms of stability, we’ve not been doing much hiring in my department from what I’ve seen, and some teams have been redundant and are getting laid off, but it’s very minor. Overall you should be fine, but the responses aren’t as quick as with other organizations, I’m not sure why exactly
Thanks for the reply. The role I applied for it not available at job portal. However, my job application is still available. I was just worried from the attitude of the recruiters as they are ignoring my email and get back only if they need me. I was on Amazon hiring process and they are very professional and have committed to response back on each step, just wondering if something wrong is happening or it is normal RH hiring team behavior. Last question it is solution architect tor openshift position (pre-sale) at Eroupe and I know RH s paying less than high tech companies but is presale paid better?
Ya I believe they are. Additionally, sales as the ability to really make a lot if you can book lots of deals.
