Hey Apple engineers, I heard it is very difficult to promo to L5 from L4 since L5 at Apple is kinda equivalent to L6 or senior L5 at google. If no promo happens, how is L4 salary and refresh? I thought only promo gets you a boost in TC. If no good refresh, will people leave?
I have the same question as OP, especially after 4 yrs and the promo still doesn’t happen and the initial RSU granted have all vested. Usually the annual refresh is much less than the joining offer, although I’m not sure if it applies to others, but it’s true to me. So after 4 yrs, I’m not sure if the total package will shrink. Any thoughts here?
Yes it will shrink if you are an average performer. For 8/9 or 9/9, refresh can be higher than initial grant.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
You can get around 10% base increase per year without promotion. L4 - L5 bases aren’t too far off . It’s the annual stock refreshers that are larger for l5.
It’s more like 3%-6%. 10% is very rare
