Regret joining Etsy over Amazon
I don't know what I was thinking, but I picked Etsy over Amazon 2 years ago. Had offers from both. Now, Etsy stock is way down, managers are ordered to micromanage, and the PIP quota is about 10% per year. A living hell for engineers here. On top of it, I found Etsy company has very low prestige in tech community. Join Etsy only as a second job, not your primary. You would regret it.
I am not woke. I am an average engineer.
Err I used to work at Amazon and after 2 years, there's a very high chance you would be pip, laid off, reorged and generally miserable. I literally only got 5% of my stock so you didn't miss much. I left before 2 years best decision of my life You can still apply later

It’s fine to make mistakes, and it’s fine to do course corrections at any time. Nobody does everything perfectly.

Hiring is still on tho limited. No harm in trying . I know at least dozen folks who were laid off and everyone was able to land something . Most of them got salary bump too . So it’s not 2021 but I don’t think it’s 08 either . It’s little hard for inexperienced engineers but still better than non tech roles .

Not joining Amazon is never a mistake. Maybe you should have interviewed more instead.

Have you read the horror stories about Amazon on Blind? I’m sure you did yourself a favor by joining Etsy. Edit: Etsy is only having trouble right now because of that short seller guy who came out with a report which claims that Etsy was selling counterfeit products (which was true at the time.) But the e-commerce niche is solid nonetheless.
Etsy sells a lot of counterfeit. It is still true.
