Just had an on site and recruiter said I passed the technical bar but there was concern over my background that it didn't provide evidence that I could thrive in a fast paced environment with a lot of autonomy and not a lot of structure. 1. Are recruiters honest when they say this or do they just want to spare my feelings because I was actually a dud technically? 2. Are they honest when they say the team would genuinely be interested in bringing me on after it was built up a bit more?
Well considering there was that Microsoft guy here not too long ago ranting about how he looked up his interviewers and they were all from no name small companies before they joined Salesforce, I wouldn't be surprised if you got judged because of your history. It's a pretty f-cked up world.
+1
May be your technical background is like your username
Haha, in some sense you're right. I don't really have any pedigree in my resume. I have always been at the top relative to my peers wherever I've gone.
Top of what/whom/when matters!
That stinks. Don't obsess over it. It's their loss.
Thanks for the positive words.

What company was this for? Most likely BS though. If your experiences / background wasn't good enough, they wouldn't have invited you onsite.
It was at a top company. I guess they felt like they had to ask too many leading questions instead of me taking more control.
