Relocate without informing my company
My company does not want me to relocate within California, even though we are working from home indefinitely, does it make sense to put my friend's address as mine on the system but relocate to a cheaper place until the end of 2020? Is that a wrong move by any obvious chance? any implication to this ? #remotework #wfh
If I want to relocate and my company won’t support me, I would just quit and work for someone who would be ok with it. Your company hired you because you could be in the office x times/week, if you can’t do that anymore, you wouldn’t be honouring your contract with them and they could let you go. If you sell your relocation as temporary (only during lockdown, after this is all over I’ll be back to the office as agreed) that could work.
If on a visa lookup restrictions for that.
Visa does not have a restriction to be honest you can submit amendment to have your work location updated. Only thing you need to do is put house address as your work location. That is how folks having visa are switching jobs. It's individual company restriction.

I’ve advised a few people to do this , and I would do it too. What’s the harm ? As long as you maintain your work hours,it should matter where you are
