thinking of moving to New York. any New Yorkers here who can give me an understanding on whats it like to live there? would you recommend? (ive only visited 3 times in the past)
Is Facebook supporting your move with a visa, or are you already able to move with a green card or US citizenship? If you'll be getting an employment visa, you should check which one.
Facebook might help with relocation, if not thinking of applying to other companies who will sponsor visa
This is something that you need to investigate much more and have nailed down before you even contemplate moving. It's like putting the cart before the horse. 1. Make sure you can legally move to the USA (i.e. With a visa, and find out the details of the visa, etc). 2. Determine where you can / want to live.
Live in Brooklyn if you like a more creative and younger vibe. Really easy to get from BK to FBs offices.
Yes I love Brooklyn, is rent much cheaper there than Manhattan? Can you tell me what’s an average cost for rent per month for a 1 bedroom apartment in Brooklyn?
Try out Zillow and see for yourself..Brooklyn heights would be upwards of 3k for a decent studio.. But you could find like minded roommates and offset your costs..
If you don’t already have a role in NY consider a few other places in the US. Bay Area has a bigger time difference, but it’s warmer, better for the employers etc (has plenty of downsides too)
Cost of living is much higher. Including rent comparing to London. Also depends on what you looking for. If your TC allows u to stay in Manhattan. I will encourage you to do so. SoHo, East village, Chelsea, union square, upper east, and stay away from midtown tho.
Can you tell me what TC means? I see it everywhere 🙊
