How does the relocation package work at Microsoft. I have not been offered cash, but have been told "I'm in safe hands". We are a family of 4 moving from East Coast to HQ. I don't own a home, neither do I plan to buy one soon. I have a couple of SUVs and lease a 3BR. Etiquette TC 205k!
Yea. So i got the full relo. 5K grosses up 2 months housing 2 months car 20 foot container Day of move transportation Day of move per diem Break lease repay Loss car repay Relocation settle in stuff like help with bank account Show you Seattle
Thanks. This is more than what my family needs. Whats with the 5K? How about our travel? I was thinking of driving coast to coast, could be both fun or awful.. Might end up flying.. lol..
Sorry - yes of course they buy your plane tickets! That’s so basic. 5K for hey, you moved. It cost money that you can’t foresee. Take some cash.
In general they either cover your entire move or give you a lump sum. It might be better to have them handle given the size of your family.
What is the lump sum amount?
i drove in one car from tampa,fl, shipped another and booked 2 pods from haul. witheverything i saved around 10k$
.. so you opted for the lumpsum?
From where did you choose lump sum? I opted for lump sum when I was talking with recruiter, but in offer letter they put Microsoft relocation package. And recruiter has no idea about it.
I'm moving in late summer and I'll be put in touch with my relo agent around that time. My recruiter doesn't have this info.
I just relocated 2 years ago. Family of 4, 2.5k miles. Your taxes will hurt next year b/c it's income. We didn't get a "show you around Seattle" so we were completely on our own and made mistakes (a couple bad real estate agents, a terrible rental lease, staying too close to Redmond). We got movers to pack and ship and then deliver to our new place. We got 30 days of storage and 60 days of corporate housing. The 5k (after tax due to gross up) helps to cover things like new drivers license, car licensing, rental deposit, etc. It may vary based on what level you're hired in for. They cover either plane tickets or some per diem and mileage if driving. Treat your moving coordinator nicely and keep in touch with them throughout. If there are issues, they do great things to resolve them like finding new corporate housing if you have pets. Feel free to PM.
To give comparison, I think the lump sum was something like $15k. So for us the full relo package was a no-brainer.
Just to be clear... the 5k amount is *after* taxes?
International relocation used to get 15k while domestic relocation was 5k (tax already paid by MSFT). Or you could forfeit the cash and have them pay for all expenses instead. Based on the comments here it seems like it changed.
Single rent would be 12.5k lump sum
Wut?
Or standard package
House sell realtor fee?
It's a good deal...they hook you up.
