..so they could save their current employees that they liked since there was a mandated “cut 10% every year” rule? So managers went and found sacrificial lambs externally? Lol do you think the same thing is going to happen at tik tok? https://www.inc.com/jason-aten/amazons-controversial-hire-to-fire-practice-reveals-a-brutal-truth-about-management.html https://www.wsj.com/business/tiktok-asks-managers-to-give-more-staff-lower-review-grades-9a7daffc?
I think the hyper growth era at Amazon is gone, adding a head on the team I’m on is going to require substantial backing. Which is a good thing.
This post was about tik tok but there’s so much Amazon chatter here lol When u rule the world of e-commerce there’s only so many corners you can conquer before u gotta go on different crusades. Amazon venturing into entertainment industry with prime video paired with year over year billion dollar+ losses to use as “[an economic] loss leader” with keeping prime members “sticky” is an interesting idea. Tbh I think it’d be nice if Amazon/bezos/blue origin added some more competition to the Tesla starlink. Satellite wifi on demand is world-encompassing, so it sounds like it’s something Amazon would want I’d imagine. Also— I used to work in an assembly+manufacturing plant that made Rivian parts and now I see those lil delivery vans in my neighborhood and I’m a bit curious about the economics/returns-on-investment with the Rivian investment.
Ah I think the investment in electric vehicles isn’t about the vehicles themselves but is about reducing the impact of fluctuations on oil prices. I’m sure that they will continue to electrify their fleet in the future across the supply chain.
This place is a toxic shit hole and I can't wait to get out after my stocks vest. I'm giving them 0 days notice
Peak schizo/stockholm-syndrome behavior I wish u well my comrade 🫡

Hire to fire? Really? Amazon cant be this toxic. Is it because they cannot find any other way to get rid of the people once what they were hired for is achieved?
Lol, everyone in Amazon say IDC, US, Europe knows about it, Amazon managers are toxic as hell, I'll never hire them in my team
I used to work at Amazon, had two sr managers tell me that they all did it. They have their team of folks who work well together and are high performers, so they hire someone just to sacrifice them later. It’s a Durban move but they have no choice. HR has their policies, and policy is policy
What do you mean "used to"?!
Ikr.. they still do it lol
To all Directors : Never hire Amazon managers in ur team in future for Humanity's sake
Meh,, that seems kinda crazy. The people who made their way into management roles at Amazon are good at what they do if they got there imo. To discount all of the Amazon managers bc they are forced to oblige by a rank-and-yank prisoner’s dilemma with their employer where they either have to sacrifice an underling or be the sacrifice if they refuse to comply …rly is being stuck between rock and a hard place, and then to have employees from inferior-e-commerce companies like Walmart try to denounce Amazon’s manager’s experience… is quite ironic— especially considering half of what Walmart does nowadays is copying Amazon, but pip-pip-cheerio u go round saying not to hire Amazon managers sure lol
What a stupid comment. Managers simply follow system created by the company.

Would you marry a women who's 35+ ?
Why are you talking like it’s a thing of the past? It’s still a thing at Amazon.
Bc amazon has a hiring freeze and managers can’t hire anybody anymore
I thought about this after I posted it. Maybe it isn’t a thing of the past. I just learned about it in 2018 from my school who sends a lotta people off to Amazon corporate roles, but now I’m seeing articles posted in 2021 talking about it so idk
