Of the following, which makes more sense to join in 2022? All are mid-level roles GitHub TC - $260k Pros: - Good WLB - Microsoft RSUs - Solid, well established product - Great perks and benefits Cons: - Lost a lot of its hype after Microsoft acquisition - Heard theres a lot of org/leadership problems - Tech stack can be a hit or miss. Some teams will use Ruby and .NET Dropbox TC - $260k Pros: - WLB - Good perks - Company is expanding its products outside of core file syncing/storing - Solid engineers - Lots of room for impact + promo on the specific team Cons: - Keep hearing Dropbox is a dying company/product - Underwhelming stock performance Shopify TC - $160k Pros: - WLB - Interesting team - Room for impact/promo - Company culture (although this might be a con now) Cons: - Poor comp model across the company - Getting more corporate - Recent stock dip - High attrition atm
Who even uses Dropbox anymore? All of the operating systems have their own solutions for file sync right? Why would anyone need dropbox anymore? Honest question
People who are anti big boys. I used to use them but they messed up an excel integration in iphone seven months back and since then I'm on O365
Lots of people say this, but I sure as heck would have guessed that Snapchat was a dying product because I donāt use it and therefore donāt have visibility on its popularity. SMBās, creatives, and some mid-market make up a lot of our customer base.
GitHub is an interesting project, but with Ruby, .Net and Microsoft sounds like more the work to be done is likely tedious and uninteresting. Dropbox hasn't really innovated well since it's inception. It created things like paper, but now I think it's basically just maintaining it's product and trying to maximize b2b sales. Shopify seems legit, but wtf is with that TC in comparison to the others? Can you counter? I'd get in now during the stock dip if possible, but only if they'd pay you what your worth. My vote is Shopify (with counter) > GitHub > Dropbox > Shopify
I know man :/ Shopify is super stingy with their offers/negotiation counters. The CEO outright said he doesnāt want people who optimize for TC working there. I get it, but come on pay market value at least.
I'd basically say here is my counter offer, if that doesn't work, then it was great interviewing with you, and good luck. If you go to the negotiating table with any less confidence to walk away than that then they're probably not going to bother negotiating with you. However, by essentially giving them an ultimatum without calling in an ultimatum you hold all the power. That makes them much more likely to play ball. And since you have two other really great offers, you hold all the power. They're wasting their time and yours by giving you the offer they did. Edit: And if they don't want to negotiate with you, that's fine. They're poor and they don't have enough money to afford you. Lol
I use DropBox. Itās great to have a centralized location for family files, as well as a cloud backup of important documents. I would be sad to see it go
Why not Google Drive, One Drive or iCloud? Seems like those are all my common to share things with people without having to explain what it is and where to go and to sign up for a new account or something.
Better interface from what Iāve seen. I donāt really use it outside of cloud backup and remote access to personal files and shared access with family members
Try to negotiate the Shopify offer. That is low. But the remote experience has been great. Otherwise, GitHub.
Agree. Shopify can match the other offers.

We just had a 145% bonus multiplier for last year! Join dropbox!
What does that mean? Everyoneās annual bonus gets 45% more or just certain people?
Everyone gets 45% more
I think the problems we work with at shopify are very interesting and fun, but 100% agree about low TC and from my experience WLB is not a pro unless youāre very diligent about setting boundaries and donāt care so much about the showing off āimpactā
I joined DBX last year and like it so far. The stock tanked quite a bit since joining, but Iām hopeful it will rebound eventually as we continue expanding out of the core product and continue beating earnings estimates.
What out of core products have been launched? Iāve seen Paper.

Crossed a line with my boss
Can you share your interview experience with these three?
GH was heavily behavioral. Lots of questions about D&I. Technical portion was a take home assignment to build an API. Follow up interview to extend upon it and review a PR. DBX was pretty standard - 60% technical 40% behavioral. Shopify was also pretty standard with a round dedicated to deep diving a technical project. Other rounds were the usual coding questions which were more practical. Leetcode helped to an extent. Then the typical HM interview a couple times throughout the process.
What is D&I?
