Currently nearing final stages for the interview process at tmobile as swe. I know bellevue hq is hybrid with 3 days in office. I’m canadian though, and my current job gives me the flexibility to work from toronto on remote days if I’m not super high-key about it. I want to be able to visit my family at home during weekend trips. Is T-mobile strict on where I work from home? Would a vpn do? #tech #remote #abroad #canada #vpn #international
Run away from Tmobile if you wish to work from home. They will certainly not allow that.
Someone will inevitably comment that their specific manager allows them great flexibility. That being said, in general across the company, you won't get approval for this type of arrangement. I would suggest talking with the HM for the role with your situation. Also, unless TMO is your only option, stay far away as a SWE. Your career will stall here. Network Technology is complete ass outside of core telecommunications tech. Our data science, analytics, and SWE engineering leadership are pretty shit and the actual data doesn't really drive decisions.
What is alarming about this BS is you are wasting your time and T mobile's time. These sort of things needs to be sorted out first WFH means US soil.
Can't VPN from out of usa unless you get some high level approvals. What location are you looking to work from?
