Remote work at Meta

I’ve heard from someone I know who used to work there that there aren’t any remote openings right now and that you need a manager to approve the exception for you specifically. If that’s true, why is “Remote, US” included as a location in many of Meta’s job posts in addition to “May telecommute from any location within the US” in the description? Has anyone recently accepted an E4 or E5 Meta offer for remote-only? EDIT: SWE roles only. Asking because I see lots of supposedly remote SWE openings on their career site and am wondering if it’s an option to join fully remote these days. TC: 120K 3 YOE #meta

So I got to the first round with them a few months ago, I applied to a remote opening but then when I did the interview they told me I would have to choose between NYC, Seattle, and The valley.

It depends on the role. If one team says no remote, try another. It varies a lot between teams.

Wondering about SWE roles specifically!

Teams who already have plenty of people remote might be more open to add remote. If you are extremely good talent, with some effort can be possible.

Curious to know which teams. Happy to DM if you prefer.

I updated the post, asking about SWE roles specifically. So it sounds like joining remotely as a new hire isn’t an option.

I hear they have you sign the PIP on the same day you sign the offer letter.

Anyone know if you can get a new E6 offer as remote? I’m currently in the loop and definitely hoping to be remote and not have to move to NYC.
