I accepted an offer for summer 2022 SWE internship at Meta. Later, I also got an offer from Two Sigma. Since I'm into finance & math, I think I would be more excited about working on projects at two sigma. Is it a good idea to renege my Meta offer? Are there any serious consequences that I should be aware of? Will I be blacklisted forever? Any advice would be appreciated!
WE WILL NEVER FORGIVE
Ask to move meta to the spring .
No one cares about internships, they’ll just go to the next person
This is why meta is not attracting talent. Two sigma values interns a lot, but look at how you are valuing interns
Meta attracts tons of talent. Not sure where your statement/claim came from.
You can always go back to tech from non tech but not the other way around. Follow your interest as you are interning. MAANG is always hiring and you will be able to get in easily.

How did you get the interviews? I am also looking
Two sigma is objectively better. Higher TC, better WLB, and higher interview bar. You did 9 rounds for the 2Sig intern role right? Mega/Facebook only had 2x45 min interviews that are a joke compared to 2Sig
Facebook pays more actually, better tech stack. Two Sigma is on the decline, it is not what it was several years ago. For career growth in tech, Meta is better.
I would pick Meta today
Two sigma is declining, it was good 5 years ago. Go to meta, they have a nice structured internship and they host workshops which are so much more valuable. Choose meta for internship so you can learn. Go to two sigma or another hedge fund later on in your career
you must be proud of your decision right now, look at the recent news.

Join Meta. Better brand value and will help in future. Since you are an intern, the projects you’ll get will depend on the team.
