Do you guys rent a car when going on long road trips? I feel rental car is better since you can have fun with it , don't have to worry about wear and tear
I do half and half, depending on the situation My cars generally need premium gas. So most of the time my gas difference and mpg difference does Save me more money than spending on rental cars rent. Plus added benefits are less wear and tear. But fun/comfort wise I prefer my own car. Because if I rent a really expensive car then I am not really saving anything. If the rental car is more expensive than the one I own,, there is more risk because collision and comprehensive will only cover upto the value of your own car

I bought a low mileage 4 seater sports car. I do road trips with my friends frequently. Using my corporate discount I can rent cars from like $30 a day at Avis. Much cheaper to split this cost with friends than put 100s of miles on my car in depreciation. Plus the rental car gets better mpg. So if your car is high mileage or cheap, just use your own.
Poor people rent cars. Rich people don't care about putting miles on their own car, and would prefer the convenience.
I rent different exotic cars every time. Floor the pedal
Real rich people already own exotic cars
Renting a car can seem like a hassle if you already own one. I would only consider renting if I didn't own a car or was on a lease.
Its like asking taking an escort or wife on vacation
What kind of "fun" are we talking about here?
