For those of us not fortunate enough to be home ownersā¦can someone please explain to me why apartment rentals in the South Bay area are so dreadfully awful? I sobbed twice today after having spent the weekend looking for a decent apartment and having no luck. Hereās the short list of what Iāve seen from all the so-called āluxuryā apartments: - Decomp mold on Yelp reviews (as in something died and no one cleaned properly) - Smokers in nonsmoking places - Built on an asbestos site - Built near a super busy freeway - Built under power towers - Garbage dump adjacent - Homeless encampment and tweaker adjacent - Cemetary adjacent with frequent motorcades - Tenants complaining of stuff rotting and breaking and landlord never fixing it All this plus the awful traffic getting to and from these places with people accelerating into the freeways no more than a whopping 45 miles an hour is enough to pull your hair out. Oh and for $3500-4500 in monthly rent for THAT? š¤” Please tell me this isnāt all there is to offer us poor people in the South Bay. Why do they want us on-site so we are forced to live in these š©holes? TC: $280K non tech in tech YOE: 20+
Welcome to Kalifornia.
Fremont is better for renting.
Yeah, looking at East Bay overall.
move to antioch
That would be a worthwhile commute to Santa Clara. lol.
Please don't live and work in the Bay area
I love my lcol life lol
You are kind of paranoid. But you can check out Ascent apartments. Best apartment I stayed at. Not sure if it deteriorated since then.
Just sharing what Iāve observed and seen reported multiple times in Yelp reviews for luxury apartments. As soon as you sign that lease and move in, they gotcha! I live in Palo Alto in an apartment where I pay over $4K a month and multiple things stay broken despite requests for repairs. Sad to see this is kind of the norm from what I can see.
If you live your life on the basis of Yelp reviews you will not be able to buy anything or live anywhere.
rent have increased across metro areas throughout US
Irvine apartments are well maintained. Try that.
Santa Clara has many new construction apartments. Have you checked those out?
If I have to live and work in Santa Clara, Iām going to end up being like one of those polar bears that paces back and forth in the zoo because itās used to catching fish in the deep blue waters of the ocean and instead itās stuck in a zoo.
Santa clara is paradise on earth

It appears I have no choice but to do so.
