I'm moving to San Francisco from the east coast soon. I will be joining Uber as an SE2. I am a single guy and looking for a nice 1 bedroom apartment. UBER's HQ is in the Soma area but it will be moved to Mission Bay soon. Here are my options, please help me choose. I have included the monthly rent (utilities included), the approximate area and commute. The rents are so high! Let me know about the other available options.

Breakdown?
Do you have a car? If so there are better options - I wouldn’t really want to live in any of these neighborhoods you have chosen.
Please tell me the other options, I don't know. I might buy a car, but it depends on my rent and how far is the commute
The big thing that we can’t decide for you is how much you value a quick commute. Soma is a bit soulless but it’s hard to beat walking distance. My general preference would be Oakland but 40 mins is a long commute. (Edit: as the next commenter said, you should be able to find a quicker commute in Oakland) My advice is this: don’t decide based on the money. If you’re only considering those other options because they’re cheaper, a few hundred dollars a month isn’t worth your happiness.
I am trying to consider everything. Oakland will waste take an hour extra of my life with commute every day but it will be 700$ cheaper! I can get a car with that money. I am also considering the area, but I don't know which area is good. I just know SOMA has a lot of homeless people on the streets.
If a “good” walkable area with relatively few homeless people is important to you do not choose Soma.
Find a place in Oakland that’s closer to Bart. All trains through SF also pass through West Oakland, it’s closer to a 20 minute commute.
When Uber move to mission bay it will be 40 minutes because I have to change the bus
Mission Bay schedule is not known. Would not decide based on that for now
How about mission district or Hayes valley?
Yeah, they are all walking distance, but the rents are more or less the same. Is there any difference in terms of the neighborhood?
Mission bay
Do you currently live there? how's the area?
No, I live in the opposite side and work in the engineering building. We're moving to mission bay soon and it's clean there so highly recommend. Even dogpatch is nice too and studios might be a little cheaper
TC?
If you are someone who doesn’t like commute, stay in the city and spend the money on rent. There are nice apartments in Rincon Hill area $3000 for studio and $3500 ish for 1 BR. You don’t need a car in city. You can always rent for traveling on weekends unless you want to drive a lot. Car will become a liability for future home search due to high parking cost in the city ~$300+ Are you in 1455 or 555?
Thanks! I think 1455. I have an electric skateboard, I think I could avoid buying a car if I live close to work. Is there a bike room in 1455?
There is a bike room but you can’t leave it overnight
Depending on your age I’d say get a roommate and save some $$
this
Btw with Oakland and Daly city I should pay an extra cost for transportation
