My start date at new company is in a month. When should I put my notice? Is there any problem if employment overlaps? I worry about reneged offer or retaliation from current employer if I pull trigger too soon. #startdate
Resign J1 on J2's start date.
Depends on your situation. If you’re worried about offer rescinded, resign the day you start new job.
Take 2 weeks off at current job and then work at new company in the meantime and get acquainted with the people there. If it's good then resign older job otherwise simply go back to old job after pto
Dang this is a good strategy
Is this legal?
what about layoff one month after you start? you can’t just have unfounded worries. just do normal resignation
Companies don’t give a damn about us. Why should we give a damn about them? Do what’s best for YOU!
Here is a plan that sounded interesting but didn't work out (and its not what you think) - Gave 2 week notice for old job on the first day of the new job . Did not take any days off before resigning - 1 week after new job started, took another 2 weeks PTO to relax and really start fresh For a variety of reasons, person didn't make it to the first 90 days. The 90 days clock didn't stop when the new person took the 2 weeks Moral of the story: whatever you do, if you plan to do a 1-day new/old job overlap, take your PTOs BEFORE you leave your current job...
What? I can’t follow what you’re say, it doesn’t make sense.
You took 2 week PTO from the new job after working there for one week ?? Did I read that correctly ?
If you really worry you can give notice the day you join new company and leave immediately. It wouldn't even burn bridges at least in some companies.
Where r u joining? Current and offered TC?
Why resign? Keep both jobs if you can handle it
