I am not having a good time getting my resume shortlisted(7+ yoe). Only got couple of calls from early stage startups but got rejected due to skill mismatch and expectations. It's frustrating because its been 1 month since I am applying and only getting rejections based on the resume. Here's what I have tried, Applied on LinkedIn, Referrals, Career pages, hiring sites etc. So I think maybe something is wrong with my resume and would like to get opinions on it. If you're in a position to review resumes, whether as a recruiter, hiring manager, or senior engineer, it would be of great help. Your resume looks fine to me. I am having the same experience like you
By experience I mean job applicant experience. I apply and either reject or ghost. Only 2 screens ... But before I'd apply to 5 places and hear back from all of them. I think it's the Market :(
Yeah, I only heard back from couple of startups but nothing from a big company. It's either a rejection or ghosting even with a referral. Not sure how people posting on LinkedIn are getting jobs :(
Are you in sense now?
Yes, are you also ;)?
Interviewing, how much do they pay for SDE -3 role?
Hey what's your pay looks like? How's culture at sense? On resume perspective you need to provide more descriptive bullets with number backing. Currently it looks verbose
Pay is good if you can negotiate but I culture isn't good. Thanks for the review, I'll try to shorten the sentences and add numbers.
Can you give range on number
So much needs to change. I’d just start over or hire someone else to write it for you for a few hundred bucks. I paid someone at My PM Fit for mine. The first few years out of college determine your earning potential and career trajectory so there’s no reason to shoot yourself in the foot because you’re a poor resume writer. I don’t get why people are so proud of writing their own resumes… you’re an engineer not a writer.
Thanks for the review. Is there any suggestions on where should I start?
Also If you have used any services previously, can you please share. I have read reviews that many of the online services are scam and doesn't provide any useful information. I have tried the free one from angel list last week, was thinking of using the professional services.
The resume looks fine. Imo LinkedIn jobs has a really low response rate (20% if my interviews have been via LinkedIn jobs, while 80% of the jobs I’ve applied for have been found via LinkedIn jobs).
I have tried with referrals also but looks like everyone is going through referral. I guess unless there is a credible referral from higher post, resume won't get noticed.
It has more to do with the fact that the market is absolute trash. Are you in the US or outside?
I'm in India, but market is same here. It's frustrating because I do see some LinkedIn post of people getting new jobs and switching but I don't even get a interview at a good company.
It looks like you’re building internal tools. There’s not a lot of internal-tooling team hiring because companies are trying to cut people who only build internal tools
I only worked on it for migrating to new tool but I am actually working on a company product currently. It's just that it saved some money for the company so I have added that line. Should I remove that from the resume?
Cool, first two points are for that but i think language isn't good and it needs some work. I'll try to add the numbers also. Thank you for the suggestions.
DM for SAP and anyone else for a referral!
