Hello community, Iβm in serious help. I came across role at meta as manager. I updated resume using the job description and also having relevant experience in the skillset for more than a decade. On being referred, I got email from meta stating as follow : β After careful consideration, we have decided not to move forward with the position(s) mentioned above. We are not able to share specific feedback about your application, but common reasons for not moving forward are: 1. Minimum requirements for the referred position are not met 2. Other candidates that are more qualified are already in the pipeline 3. We have identified a recent interview for the same/similar role 4. The position is no longer available 5. Business needs changed β Is this normal to not even take an interview when referred internally? I was really hoping to get a chance at this, feel really dejected. This was one hope. Secondly is it possible to get the real reason for it? Can the person referring inquire about it? #engineering #application #resume
There are a ton of referrals right now internally for those already there looking to change teams or those recently laid off. In many cases those are being prioritized now. Sometimes they know who they want for the role but just need to complete the interviews. Also, 10+ yrs won't cut it. There are many on the street with 15+ yrs of management at FAANGs.
Okay. Thatβs what Iβve been told.
Yes but not for the specific application.
Referrals != interviews Grow up, take the rejection and move on. You obviously lack what theyβre looking for
why jump from Linkedin to Meta?
Stagnated job duties.
Things will be worse in meta.
1. Yes it is common 2. No you canβt ask to get the βrealβ reason
Thanks for your reply.
You may not realize it, but you're super lucky, it's a blessing in disguise Destiny saved you from this hell
Lol.. Iβm happy to be in that hell.
Nah bro, it's 1am and I'm still working just to survive here. Also a lot of toxicity and office politics. It really sucks. You'll find happiness elsewhere
I was rejected for all three roles I tried with my referral the very next day π They were all basically the same position, so I guess if they didn't like me for one of them, they wouldn't like me for any of them.
Meta CW seems to like me for the same $18-$23/hr roles, but that's a bit below what I'd settle for. I interviewed for a small generative AI company that basically would have offered me $58/hr (told I'd be lower on their pay scale being a recent MSc grad), so I would have thought I was capable of something higher for a contract gig π
Same here
It's pretty normal. I gets 100s of rejects from all the jobs I am super qualified for. I think this happened to you first time? A lot of the time there's a bot or ranking algorithm that will rank resumes and if the score is below a threshold it will simply send reject ( I don't know this is how it exactly works at meta but I am assuming it does ) without a human review. Even with human review, the recruiter may decide he or she wants to talk with only top 5 candidates
TBH, it happened to me first time for my skillset.
@OP, may I DM?

BREAKING: Internal sources confirm another round of layoffs just hit emails at Tesla. For real.
Iβve been told that Meta isnβt hiring any outsiders. Only internal moves or ex-meta mates that were impacted during layoffs.
Thatβs not true. There are many who are reached out externally
Oh okay. Iβve been told wrong then. lol
